As reported in the Herald Sun, I am running for Deputy Lord Mayor of Melbourne. The Lord Mayoral candidate is Peter McMullin. Our team is the Melbourne's future team and the final list of Councillors will be confirmed shortly. It is good to be back on the campaign trail.

New article | A US-based ETS and an international carbon trading scheme just aren't going to happen!

I had an article in The Australian today pointing out the bleeding obvious - just because McCain and Obama support a cap-and-trade system doesn't mean there will be a US-based ETS; plus there is not going to be a comprehensive international carbon trading scheme. I made this point because I have heard the line repeated that "McCain and Obama both support an ETS so the US will get one" so many times by politicians and ETS advocates. It is just garbage. It is a snappy political line that does not reflect reality. The article explains why. The piece is neither pro, nor anti ETS. I just want an honest debate. And we are not having one at the moment. I was very flattered to be asked back on to Q&A by its producers. This time I appeared with Tanya Plibersek, Linda Jaivin, Mungo MacCallum and Senator Nick Minchin. It was hard to top outing myself on national television and humiliating a Cabinet Minister on a left wing issue, but I was still reasonably happy with my performance. This time my greatest contribution was probably arguing why the old paradigm of "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" is fundamentally wrong. You cannot be a freedom fighter when you are fighting for the right to take control of Government to enslave people. The new photo can be found here. The video of the show can be found here.
