Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, I live an active and passionate life through my involvement in politics and society.
Keen to contribute to public debate and ideas, my writings on a diverse range of issues are regularly published in most Australian newspapers including The Australian, The Australian Financial Review, The Age, the Herald Sun, The Courier Mail, The West Australian, the IPA Review and Online Opinion. I have also been published in international newspapers including The South China Morning Post (Hong Kong), The China Post (Taiwan) and The Pioneer (India). I have also appeared in and on numerous global and local media outlets, including ABC Television and Radio, Radio Australia, BBC World Television and Radio, Sky News, SBS, CNN and The Weather Channel. I'm also an occassional panellist on Joy 94.9 radio's The Spin and ABC1 television's program Q&A.
My job is my passion and am currently the Director of Intellectual Property (IP) and Free Trade Unit at the Institute of Public Affairs, the world's oldest free market think tank; and am a member of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's Intellectual Property Consultative Group.
Previously I worked as a consultant on international trade, intellectual property and environment policy for Melbourne-based consultancy, ITS Global. I also worked for the Australian APEC Study Centre on international development programs; and was responsible for delivering the Australian Government's program to build the logistical and policy capacity of the Vietnamese Government to host APEC in 2006.
I've also worked
as a Senior Consultant for a strategic communications firm assisting
companies and the Government in developing their communication campaigns.
I've also worked for the Victorian Leader of the Opposition and a number
of other State and Federal Members of Parliament.
I was also a twice elected Student President at the Caulfield Campus
of Monash University and was separately elected to the University's
Board of Directors, the Monash University Council.
Learning is a also passion of mine and have studied Intellectual Property at the World Intellectual Property Organisation's Academy and have completed a Masters of Diplomacy and Trade at the Monash Graduate School of Business. I have also completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Policy Studies and Politics from Monash University and a Diploma of Business. I've also completed training on Global Health Diplomacy and the WTO, International Trade and Development at the Institut de Hautes Études Internationales et du Développment, Geneva. My Secondary education was completed at the Peninsula School.
Being engaged in civil society is very important to me, and am currently a Member of the Institute of Public Affairs, Australian Institute of International Affairs, Australian-American Association, the Australian Republican Movement, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Melbourne Cricket Club and the Melbourne Football Club. I am also a Patron of the Midsumma Festival.
Currently i'm single and live in Melbourne, Australia.
